American actor Richard Lewis died aged 76
Known for his role in the Curb Your Enthusiasm series, he died of a heart attack. He was considered one of the most influential comedians of the 20th century.
American actor Richard Lewis died on Tuesday February 27 of a heart attack at the age of 76, several US media announced on Wednesday. He died "peacefully, at his home in Los Angeles", they said.
Known for his role in the popular comedy series Curb your Enthusiasm (Larry et son nombril, in French), the actor was also a comedian and appeared on several TV shows, including NBC's The Tonight Show and the Late Show with David Letterman.
One of the most influential comedians of the 20th century
GQ magazine included him in its list of "the most influential comedians of the 20th century", and he was ranked 45th in Comedy Central's 2004 top 100 "best stand-up shows of all time". In 2023, Richard Lewis announced that he had been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease two years earlier.
