 Snow warning with lake effect issued for Onondaga and Madison counties until Thursday evening






At 4:04 a.m. Thursday, an updated lake-effect snow warning was issued by the National Weather Service, in effect until 7 p.m. for Onondaga and Madison counties.


The weather service describes, "Heavy lake-effect snowfall and blowing snow. Additional snow accumulations of 6 to 14 inches along and north of the NY State Thruway. Additional snow amounts of 2 to 5 inches south of the NY State Thruway. Winds gusting as strong as 35 mph."

"Travel could be very difficult. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. Hazardous conditions will impact morning and evening travel," adds the weather service. "If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of emergency. The latest road conditions for the state you're calling from can be obtained by calling 5 1 1."
